Nigerian scam artists.

leave a comment »

Got this in the post the other day… and it made me wonder just what sort of idiots these scam artists think we are? Just *who* in their right minds would respond to a letter that ‘out of the blue’ tells you you suddenly own $800,000? Just *who* in their right minds would send off so much personal information *including* a scan of an ID card? Clearly subtlety isn’t a strong point!!

You may ask who would be so stupid yet people *do* respond to these things and not only do they respond… but they even send money to them as well as all their personal details! Hundreds of thousands of dollars are transferred to these sharks yearly by gullible people who can’t believe their luck!

For these scammers Xmas comes many times a year. Beware folks, that old adage runs true. If it seems to good to be true… it probably is!

How's your quality of life?

leave a comment »

We’re quite remarkably well off by most standards. The wife earns a bucket of money, which of course we spend and enjoy pretty much, however the actual ‘quality of life’ issue still raises it’s head now and then.

In order for the wife to earn this small fortune she has to leave the house at 6:00 a.m. and return at 7:00 p.m. which is a long, long day. The result is that she’s tired constantly (aggravated by her physical condition of course and the tablets she takes to control it) and the weekends are often gone before she’s recovered enough to be able to do much.

So is our quality of life all it could be?

Well the wife said this morning she *has* to work in order that she keeps us constantly supplied with all our technological toys, and the accoutremonts of the lifestyle, to which I respond phooey!! Given the choice between her being home with us and having the toys etc we’d *all* choose her every time!

Can we do anything about it?

Well over the years I’ve whined in here repeatedly that I’d like to move, or *do* something about the issue and never got anywhere. I doubt anything will change anytime soon either. Interest rates have risen, petrol costs have risen and house prices have dropped. Essentially the simple cost of living has increased to the level that we just can’t afford to move even if we wanted to. We’d just end up with the same mortgage in a smaller house and she’d *still* have to work the same hours!

What to do? Anyone got a sure fire get rich quick scheme they can recommend?? 🙂

Jackpot won!

with one comment

The Powerball jackpot which eventually accumulated to AU$58,000,000 has been won… by a single person… but sadly *not* by anyone in New South Wales so it looks as if the wife still has to go to work today.

Still, there’s always next week to look forward to. 🙂

Emailcash doing well.

leave a comment »

I’m still doing the ‘emailcash‘ thing and it all seems to be working out ok. For those that don’t know, emailcash is an online ‘rewards’ program specifically for Australians. They have nearly a million members now and it’s still growing.

Basically you buy things online from selected retailers and receive ‘points’ for each dollar you spend. Prices are no higher than anywhere else on the net so you aren’t being ripped off in order to accumulate those points, it’s all just very convenient.

You can buy from the ‘retailers’, or take part in auctions, or take ‘paid’ surveys… or just be part of the community and chat, join forums etc. It’s a fully fledged community in there!

What’s better is that you don’t need to buy anything in order to accumulate points. Just going to the site and clicking on a couple of buttons gives you 5 points a day… no a lot but it *is* free money!

While you wait for your points to accumulate you can ‘deposit’ them in a sort of bank that pays ‘interest’ currently running at 19.5%. Currently I have 25,000 points in the bank (which I’ll leave there earning for 6 months) and 13,000 points outside… and all this is without actually buying very much through the site!

Ok it isn’t a huge amount, but if someone wants to give me hundreds of dollars for doing very little why would I argue?? If anyone in Oz would like a few dollars for not much work click on the banner below or opposite… if not… no worries I’m doing fine. 😀

Powerball jackpot to hit $50 million

with one comment

This morning I was bemoaning the fact that I forgot to enter the Powerball Lottery this week when the Jackpot stood at a record AU$40 million. Today I’m pleased because it didn’t go off so I get another chance next Thursday when the Jackpot will stand at $50,000,000 can you *imagine* winning that?!? 😀

Personally I think you should use the link below (or in the sidebar) and get yourself a chance… after all *someone* has to win it!! What is even better is that it’s state run *and* can be entered by anyone in the world!! The links take you directly to the official Lottery Entry Site. Good luck – but I hope *I* win!! 😀

Just fiddling.

with 5 comments

You may have noticed a few changes on the sidebars, for example more adverts and a couple of new boxes dotted about.

Nothing to worry about, just adjusting the ‘selling’ side in case someone decides an advert is attractive and clicks to find out more. Of course the more clicks the more ‘return’ I get as well so it’s in my best interests to make sure you see what interests you both on the site and on the ads.

With that in mind I’ll stop rambling and let you get on with it… reading that is, not clicking… tho feel free to click the ads if you want to… especially the Google ones.

A nice little earner!

leave a comment »

Thinking of the problems the neighbour has started me wondering what would happen if someone wanted open a business in our street. I eventually got round to wondering what if *we* opened a business… and the only one I could see someone as idle as me coping with would be running a small ‘hostel’ type place… a la Leonard Rossiter in Rising Damp… tho perhaps not quite as sleazy? 🙂

I suppose the councils laissez faire attitude might work in our favour one day if we got desperate enough for cash!! This house could *easily* be turned into four separate self-contained flats… or even seven (maybe eight?) bed-sitters which would give us a really nice little income! 😀

Hey… at today’s rates, with a rough average of $125 a week income from a room with shared facilities, we might earn $500 $600 a week off this place. That would just be renting out the four upstairs rooms. If we let the big one downstairs as well we might push is up to $750 a week! Y’know this really might be worth doing!!

I figure let the rooms out to ‘girls only’… no males staying more than two nights in a week and then not in succession and we might not see the place wrecked either

Can’t do it safely until the girls have left home (in ten years or so) I suppose… but it’s an idea… and it just might work!! 😀
